  8. Power Caps Lock CSM is a Control Strip Module that shows the status of the Caps Lock and other modifier keys.  This is useful on some PowerBooks and desktop Macintoshes that don't have an illuminated Caps Lock key.

  10. You can also have the CSM play a selectable sound whenever the key is depressed and released.

  14. The Caps Lock CSM will work on any Macintosh.

  16. Installing the Caps Lock CSM
  17.  
  18. If you are using Mac OS 8.5 or earlier, you must drag the Control Strip Module to the Control Strip folder inside your System folder.  If you are using Mac OS 8.6 or later, the Mac OS will recognize the Control Strip - merely drag it to your System Folder, and the Mac OS will move it automatically for you.

  20. With Mac OS 8.5 or earlier:

  22. 1)  Open your System folder.
  23. 2)  Copy the Control Strip Module to the Control Strip Folder in your System folder.
  24. 3)  Restart your computer.

  26. Configuring the Caps Lock CSM

  28. Once you've installed the Caps Lock CSM, you can configure it to match your personal preferences.

  37. Main popup menu

  39. The popup menu lets you control the appearance of the Control Strip.

  42. Displays the status of the shift key.

  45. Displays the status of the Option key.

  53. Selecting Sounds
  54.  
  55. You can also assign sounds to each modifier key that will be played when the key is depressed or released.  To set the sounds, click on the icon for the key you want to configure (i.e., click on the "clover" icon if you want to configure the Command key).
